YOUR WORLD IS A METAPHOR

CHAPTER 9

Right Action

You have certainly come across this concept in the course of your life. All religious forms have used this idea in their teachings. You have been bombarded with morality lessons since the first independent movements of your life. You have also been offered the lesson that you are free to act on whatever choices that appeal to you most. Putting your most exalted vision of life into action is the most difficult decision you make from moment to moment. We have some comments on this continual conundrum that may prove helpful.

First is to state that there are NO absolutes to action. Physical manifestation is, by definition, relative. That means that every choice is based upon the relationship between circumstances and your state of being. You approach the same circumstances when you are happy and at peace in very different ways then when you are fearful or irritable. You may then proclaim that the situation or the people involved "make" you upset. We emphasize that nothing outside yourself can make you feel anything. You choose in every moment how you will feel. Your facility to shift resonance to various frequencies of vibration is phenomenal. You perform this magical act constantly though you are often unconscious of it. The trick you most need to learn is to hold these shifts stable enough to maintain a state of being that affords you the greatest happiness possible.

Slipping once more into a meditative state, ask your higher self to supply you with a memory that carries an emotional charge still present in your field of being. Allow that memory to unfold before you without judgement. Just observe. As it develops within you, notice the feelings that are inspired. Notice how these feelings affect your physical body. While you watch the scene taking place in your inner sight, watch too the pockets of tension in your body, the twinges of pleasure or pain. Extend your senses out beyond your physical body and feel the flow of energy shifting and changing as the memory takes over your thoughts and emotions. Reach out for the thoughts in that younger version of yourself. What were you thinking then as the action took place? What is the fear you experienced and how did that fear describe your concepts about life at the time? Let the vision run through as many times as you need in order to gather this information. You are quite safe in your present and you need not worry that the mere memory can harm you in any way.

Now, step back into your present body and focus your attention on the center of your torso. Image the vortexes of the heart chakra on the front and back of your body. Draw in the lovely green light of that center with the inbreath and let it expand throughout your body as you exhale. Feel the spread of warmth and joy as you do so. When you feel quite full of this state of acceptance, turn once again to your memory. Stand as an observer in this bubble of green light and watch your past self living out this remembered scene. Let yourself feel compassion and acceptance of this aspect of yourself which lives within you still.

Then, bringing this bubble of loving light with you, place yourself into the remembered scene. Don't hold onto the details of the memory so hard. Let it unfold as if it were happening to you right now. Let yourself experience the action in a very different way. Offer that younger version of yourself all the love and acceptance you can muster within the green light. Shower it on everyone in your recalled event and then return to your waking state.

Look now in retrospect at the difference between the three events you have witnessed, the actual memory, the memory affected by heart energy and the event as if it were lived in the present moment. We assure you that all three version are right and proper within the framework of their individual perspectives. It may take you a day or so to see the implications of that conjured event for your present self. Understand that you have offered yourself considerable healing by recapitulating the event so thoroughly and offering it a new and more forgiving perspective.

Our second comment on the topic of Right Action is that not only is every action based on the relationship between circumstance and your state of being but also every decision is made to the best of your ability at the moment. Even actions taken in anger are based upon the best judgement you can muster at the time. You act in strict adherence to your beliefs, in the moment, about your reality. There is no need for guilt or recrimination. There is nothing in reality to forgive afterwards. Indeed, this is true for all people, both victims and perpetrators. Every interaction includes both to one degree or another. Both parties to an event have created the reality they perceive and experience. Neither is more holy, neither more "evil".

The experience of guilt results from a core belief that life itself is a punishment. You deserve to be punished because you live on this Earth. This myth is built into nearly all human cultures. It is little discussed as it is intrinsic to human experience from very early ages. It is a rare child indeed who does not interpret their experience of pain as a punishment. They receive plenty of reinforcement for this definition by the time they are independently functioning adults. Guilt is a fundamental lie you tell yourself from the earliest experiences to the present. When you feel its twinges in yourself, when you hear yourself think or say, "I should!", stop and remind yourself of the falseness of this notion. Then, you can be free to choose a new pattern of choices from which to live your life.

Thirdly, all choice serves the needs of your soul. You may not understand why or how. Just recognize that it is true. Take a leap of faith that a larger portion of yourself sees the big picture of your life all of the time and flows with it easily. No matter what decisions you make, your soul explores all of the potential within your choices. Your individual perceptions are not the only experience of you that your soul has! This is a difficult concept. Be patient with this one and don't discount it out of hand. You can gain access to all areas of your soul's experience of existence. Such access is sporadic and almost haphazard at first but quite possible. From the vantage point of your soul, you are an infinite being playing out chosen limitations. Your soul's perception has none of the limits which bind your perception of individuality. This means that the infinite creativity of your soul is exploring even the aspects of your psyche that do not manifest in your world. Your world, remember, is a perception and not the solid and final expression you insist it to be. Infinite worlds occupy what you think of as space. All of the numberless expressions of your psyche find their way into manifestation among these infinite worlds.

No choice that you make can be considered a "Right" or "Wrong" one. It is simply a choice. As your soul explores all the possibilities, its growth becomes mirrored in your outer life. This expansion draws you toward self awareness through the calling of your heart. To decide upon what action might be the "Right" action, you must make a most fundamental choice, be it conscious or otherwise. All decisions come from this primal one. Is the basis of all life Love or Fear? There are many ways to frame this question. Is Life Itself Good or Bad (indifference is essentially a vote for Bad)? Look around you and you will see that most people are choosing the latter or abdicating the decision outright (in effect the same choice). It is a huge intuitive leap to decide that Life is Good! A major stumbling block to this leap is the implication that "If life is Good then I am Good". We can assure you that this is true but you must decide for yourself in every moment. To choose the "Right" action at any time, make this the first decision you make. Is the essential nature of Life itself Good or Bad, loving or malevolent, supportive or predatorial?

We are asking you to jump out of the relative world with this question and grasp the absolute reality which permeates all of creation. When you do so, choices become marvelously easy and free of indecision and angst. If Life itself is essentially Good, you are safe to follow the calling of your heart. Your heart's desire is to be happy. That is the state of being of your soul calling you home.

Our friend here provides us another good example of how to choose the action that promotes a closer walk with spirit. He faced many moments of pain in relationships with others. Becoming conscious of his creative part in this pain was a tedious process but become conscious he eventually did. He came to perceive that his relationships with others showed him aspects of his own character from across the spectrum of good and bad as he defined those terms. As he looked upon all those disparate parts of himself exhibited by others in his life, he decided that All of Life is Good and made peace with himself. He could feel that the aspect of living that brought him the most joy and inner peace was loving. So, he decided to love. Even in the limited human terms of reference, this is no small subject but he stuck to it. The moments of experiencing the flow of love through himself, rare at first but growing more common as he learned how, were the carrot on the stick that drew him forward. Each step along that path presented new decisions.

"How do I love those that don't love me?" "How do I love without strings?" And most importantly, "How do I love myself unconditionally?" At each such passage he assumed his fundamental choice for love and muddled through. Because he too is mired in three dimensions, he can only guess at the outcomes of his choices. Muddling through is the result. Even that assumes a leap of faith that life will support him.

Our friend made a giant leap when he chose to love himself. That choice made it possible to become truly honest with himself about who he is. He had to redefine his character totally, removing positive and negative labels, taught to him by others, to all aspects of his personality. The culmination of this act of redefining was the genuine experience of being loved by all other beings, those close to him and those distant. His growing ability to reach out to his spiritual self is based upon his choice to love who he is. That has been the calling of his heart, drawing him back to his true nature.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Go once more into a meditative state. Use all the resources you now have to reach your highest normal rate of vibration. From that state of inner balance and peace, call forth your most complex and uncomfortable life situation. Ask yourself the fundamental question. "Is Life itself Good or Bad?" Don't waffle or equivocate. One or the other. Let your inner self sing out the answer. Let the answer reverberate throughout your field of being. Know that this surge of energy, thought and inspiration is shaping your life in very concrete ways, no matter which side of the equation you fall on now. We assure that you have chosen that life is Good. Pursuing this exercise would be less than pleasant otherwise. So, when you are complete with this experience, contemplate the situation you face in life. Ask your inner self, "What do I most dearly want?" Notice how open ended this question is. Your situation in life is not isolated in time and space. It is a portion of the whole of your life and is leading you toward your fundamental goals. Now ask, "How can I enact that desire in this situation?" By acting out your aspirations, you move inexorably toward them while drawing the rewards inexorably toward yourself. If what you most want is love, choose to act lovingly. Indeed, choose to feel ONLY love. Envision the life situation you contemplate unfolding to reveal ONLY love. What will you do to act out this feeling? How will it feel? Don't bother with how others will respond. Focus entirely on your feelings. You can only expect the unexpected. Your choice will be supported by life in its own timing.

This experience will bring up many pieces of information which will make your choices much clearer. As trusting in your safety to enact what you most want to be is no small issue, keep in mind the size of the first two questions that you ask. "Is Life Good?" and "What do I most want?" Explore them as far as you can and then apply the answers you come up with to your specific situations. Doing this in a meditative state will produce some unexpected results. Take the answers you get most seriously. You will find a pathway through the patterned responses to life that have held you back previously. Trusting the intuitive guidance you receive in these states of consciousness is crucial to breaking through the old stuck ways of doing things that separate you from the truth of yourself.

Remember that there are no absolutely right answers. Still, all answers are absolutely right. We are suggesting ways to access your most exalted awareness possible in the moment and enacting that state of being. The more exalted that awareness, the more frightening the possibilities that you will perceive as solutions to your dilemmas. Facing this profound discomfort and acting on your most exalted vision of life will build trust like no other course of action can. The result is a vastly increased state of happiness in your life.

Whatever your state of being, whether you habitually act out of the highest centers (or frequencies of consciousness) or the lowest, this approach to choice stimulates a steady movement into higher awareness. Even the most physicalized identity, mired in the quest for mere survival will move inexorably towards their own idea of divinity in this way. The Root Centered such as these will look to see if their immediate actions will meet their future needs. The sacral centered will look to the affects on other people and things, of their choices. The solar plexus centered will wonder at the logic of their choices and look to find a win/win solution. The heart centered will consider the needs of humanity and seek a greater perspective. The throat centered will gather the meaning of the situation and seek an expression of wholeness. The brow centered will act out of wholeness to perceive oneness with all things involved. This steady motion of reaching toward the highest frequency possible creates the most close approximation of the "Right" answer you can reach. For all that such an answer will feel like a tremendous risk to act upon, it will flow so easily as you manifest it that life will be a magical experience.
