Navigating Infinity

Chapter 6

Stare into the Void

Ponder a moment the incredibly rapid motion that you experience as visible light. The spectrum you can perceive with your eyes is a miniscule portion of the movement of infinity that you call light. As that movement slows through impact with other forms and motions, it becomes energy, sound and matter among many other forms. Before light becomes visible, there are also much faster moving phenomena like cosmic rays quantum forces and so on which have begun to capture the fancy of science and philosophy alike. Beyond those are a huge spectrum of thought and the limitless flows of spirit.

Although it is in the nature of the human experience to separate and individually define each expression of every movement, all myriad forms and forces have but one source: spirit. Spirit is an ultimate ethereal, substance-less moving face above the waters. It is the Tao that cannot be named or defined or described. Still, the urge to try is at the root of all exploration on all levels. It is known only by its effects yet it is what All That Is is made of. Its movement sets the Order of the Universe. It is the first expression of the Big Bang of consciousness rushing outward at infinite speeds. It is ongoing even when it appears historical. It becomes coherent in the High Spiritual Body only when it begins to express Intent. As we have mentioned, the awareness of "I AM WHAT?", resulting from consciousness turning inward in increasing amount, sets the prime directive of the Will of the Universe. The gathering of experience is the gravity which creates structure and organization to the realm of being which will be mirrored throughout all levels of manifestation. Because this most subtle of layers of the SELF in which you are participating cannot be grasped through ideation or emotion, other more sensitive modes of perception are needed to access its deeply meaningful content.

Your years of meditation open a crack in the shell of your awareness which allows silence to creep in. In silence alone can these subtle senses function in brief glimpses of the power of Intent which drives your every choice in life. Even the years of effort cannot make clear a perception of this portion of the source of you. It does, however, offer the comfort of its benevolent purposes, its consistency of being, its divinity if you will. Once you stopped projecting your childhood definition of "God" onto it and allowed it to be a primal mover with but one agenda, lacking in capriciousness of any sort, it fulfills all that you have wanted "God" to be. It ever shines through your life. Ahhhhh!

Now, what if it shuts off?

The development of computers in your lifetime affords you a vehicle for understanding what is a fundamental truth of existence. Consciousness pulses! What gives meaning and information to even the prime conscious awareness, the "I AM" is the Zero, the "I AM NOT" which remains unknown. Just as your computer creates meaning from on and off switches, consciousness creates ever more complex structures and meaning at the speed of spirit. In the infinitesimal pause in the void, All That Is collapses upon itself then bursts outwards in joyful dance.

In your world, you know death as the ending of things. For you, it is final, the ultimate conclusion of all that begins. Your relationships, your possessions, your days and nights, indeed your every experience of life repeats the motion of this most primal and universal function. This function has an order and method which does not vary in principle although in appearance it is filled with nuance and adventure. All pulses of spirit are outward streams of perfection expressing totality of being and inward collapses into the void and infinite potential. The wholeness of infinity is there in each seeming individual thrust of spirit. This is unchanging TRUTH; the only unchanging TRUTH. The fullness of infinite beingness extends into form. The "I AM" creates All That Is.

Of course, by the point at which human life manifests, it looks anything but perfect. The fact of it remains, perhaps the only fact there is, that it is up to you to open your perspective to embrace the wholeness of SELF and see this simple prime mover in its divinely perfect reality. That is, after all, what this exercise has always been about.

When a stream of pure, whole spirit in motion encounters another stream, an almost constant occurrence, the impact turns both streams in upon themselves and each other, much like a river current hitting a rock or another current. The fundamental motion of this impact is something like a spiral. We say something like because it is rarely two dimensional no matter how it may appear. Indeed, the multi-dimensionality of this basic function is why there is so much that you do not know that you do not know. Still, the spiral can be a useful metaphor for understanding the flow into and out of form

.

Each life experience has this cyclic (a spiral viewed from top or bottom) form with a beginning and end and a new beginning and end and so on (literally ad infinitum). Is this not obvious? Why then get so freaked out about endings? Endings are simply new beginnings. They are fated at each beginning. All of your relationships including the one with yourself, are destined to reach completion and transform into new beginnings. It is really that simple. Most of human sufferings stem from the resistance to the natural cycling of spirit into and out of form. Because it is a natural process, its timing is exquisite! Deny the perfection of the flow at your peril.

This is as true at the level of spirit as it is in human form. Here too there are moments of conception, gestation, birth, life and eventual death; all without form perhaps but no less real. From the point of entropic outward flow, a new larger perfect stream reaches out into infinity for new experience. Without death there is no potential for growth, for the Self-awareness that is the goal of All That Is. Each cycle brings something brand new into form; something new because all that has been still exists within. Even in the brand new, the once was, is not lost, not ever. What has become you will always be made of you.

Life in human form is so full of grieving because each moment is its own cycle of experience. There are wheels within wheels in the human journey. Nothing is ever lost but nothing goes unchanging in the dance of life. As we have been offering since the beginning of our conversation, the core of you, what we call your SELF, is not a manifestation of your singular little mental, emotional and physical life. The SELF, while in constant flux on its path into growth and SELF-awareness, persists throughout the lives and deaths of all its participant manifestations. Countless human experiences contribute to its expansion. You are but one. The flow of spirit through the iconic lenses of High Mental and Emotional Bodies branches infinitely outward into form. This is why becoming quiet enough to hear our voice has such value for you. Listening is your path to the you that endures, the SELF.

You are very insulated from the direct experience of the void. Layer upon layer of existential fear encase you like the shell of a snail. Great courage is called for to stick your neck out and taste death in any of its forms. When important relationships end, there is great gnashing of teeth and much weeping and self-pity. The finality of cycles ending paralyses your consciousness for a while. Each such experience, though, happens according to the natural flow of your own true SELF. Each cycle always moves toward greater awareness of SELF. As you gradually take down the walls of your resistance, new perspectives and insight blossom and lead to new and larger perspectives. In the meantime, nothing of the previous cycle gets lost.

In order to truly become aware of this fundamental fact as something more concrete than abstract, you must reach a greater processing speed than is needed to perceive matter or feeling or thought. Your conscious mind is quite capable of perceiving the void, the collapse of awareness, the pause in experiencing. In fact, the amazing aspect of consciousness is that is has become so self-absorbed that it drowns out a state of being that could so easily consume all existence. The collapse into the void is every bit as steady and constant as is consciousness. Every thought is punctuated by nothingness. The blinking of SELF into and out of existence is ongoing at infinite speeds. Each thought you have has miniscule pauses during its formation. It cannot exist otherwise. By the point at which matter manifests, the addiction to SELF, out of which matter manifests, is so firmly entrenched that you simply cannot acknowledge the existence of anything, or nothing, else.

So, it is toward the more ethereal layers of experience where we look in order to become more familiar with the void. Deep in meditation you go once more, releasing the worlds around you and within. Focus solely upon the "I AM" and quiet all else. "I AM" repeating more and more effortlessly as you grow silent around it, this mantra will begin to pulse on its own. This movement into pre-thought is possible because your conscious mind reaches ever higher speeds. Along the way, you have traversed layers of conceptualization that encompass large ideas in single bursts, embraced paradoxes in their wholeness and grasped icons that structure reality without analyses or words.

All the while basking in the "I AM", take note of the tiny gaps in awareness between bursts of the mantra. Do not linger to even acknowledge them. Just notice the blankness. You will only capture an infinitesimal percentage of such collapses into silence. Even that will be a monumental achievement. The addiction toward manifestation is intensely pernicious. It blots out the void so completely that only your years of effort could bring you to this tiny speck of knowledge.

When your meditation is over, continue to look for the wee gaps in your thoughts. Imagine them if you must. Unlike all the melodrama, all the details of your life that have been so compelling, these miniscule pulses of darkness and silence are what are really important. In the process of creation, it is within the void that the point of power to create resides. It is here in the eternal quiet that Intent is formed. When consciousness again bursts forth, it follows the direction and form that is set within the void. Here the eternal power of "God" (if you will) meets the inexorable desire of consciousness to experience Itself. The collapse into the void is not to be avoided (interesting word, no?) nor is it to be feared. It is not only natural, it is every bit as paramount to existence as the bursting outward into form.

As your direct experiences of tiny pockets of dark silence become more numerous and commonplace, you will grow to see how you emerge from each one transformed. These little moments of absolute inertia are the potentiality out of which you arise. Whatever you bring into each pocket of silence is mixed with the fuel of creation and then set forth renewed. Turning points of creation are the most notable of effects of this process. If you can reach sufficient speed of thought to catch one, you may learn to use it more consciously to move your life experience along in greater leaps toward your deepest desires fulfilled.

Imagine for a moment an old school motion picture. The longest of films is made up of individual cells of images, flashing along at rapid speed so that your vision does not detect the turning off, then on, of each cell. At one time in the development of the technology, one could, indeed, see the nature of the medium. Now that films are made digitally, the flickering is incredibly rapid and unnoticeable. Even if you wanted to detect the movement from image to image you would not be able to manage it. It is no great surprise that the content of films has become so much more compelling as this technology progresses.

The processes of creation are of similar ilk to movie technology though the speeds are mind boggling, quite literally and the input as ethereal as can be. The casting of the images to be perceived is so compelling that they are the only reality acknowledged by all but a few human minds. We offer that the real information available is in the moment points of transition from the reality that you perceive into the void and out again. Like the transition from one cell of film to another, the intent of creation is embedded in this gap in all of its enormity. This is where the true reality of the moment takes place. Both the moments of projection and of perception are pale representations of the vast power of creation realized in the moments of silent transition.

In the present, you are barely even able to conceptualize the possibility of the void much less the even more rapid and brief transition into and out of the void. The physical projection appears so indelibly seamless it is called reality by everyone you know. Even years after the idea of "world" as illusion has occupied your thoughts and definitions, the perfection of its projection proves impossible to crack. Only your mind can propose any other scheme of existence to be possible. Your senses are still trapped in three tiny dimensions.

In the infinitesimal moment points of transition from projection into the void, the entirety of your psyche coalesces to a single divine statement. All that you are is given up to "I AM" in a very real way. Nothing is excluded or hidden. Only the internal hierarchies shift as your choices move your priorities around to gather round a new Intent. Coming back out of the void, Intent is recharged thus with your transformed hierarchies of desire plus the impact of divinity upon the totality of SELF. Said another way, all that went before is infused with the wholeness of infinity and sent back out into form as you move from moment to moment. The dark space in between, however brief, however powerful and perfect, is merely the wallpaper of the universe so complete and unchanging as to be without meaning. So, too, is each moment of conscious awareness that perceives the reflection of the emerging transition point. Consciousness grants this perception to be of ultimate importance and hangs on to it for dear life turning "I AM" into an infinitely large egomaniac. Bursting as we all do out of the void and back again, we are no more meaningful than the void itself.

If you achieve the speed of thought to catch these points of transition, even only a tiny percentage, you will capture the experience of true reality. As of now, you have developed an ability to choose, conjure and project a tiny amount of your desired reality into the creation process and move toward the experience of paradise. The tools we have shared with you to become a conscious participant in creating your world use the mechanics we describe in crude ways. You manipulate your emotions as the conjuring tool because the energy of emotion is coarse and only just more ethereal than rocks and wood. Using this energy at least makes the result more obvious though it leaves much muddiness to your creation like trying to paint a masterpiece with a street sweeper.

Take a walk! Allow yourself to sink into a meditative state while putting one foot in front of the other. Avoid letting your surroundings capture your attention while you look for the dark moments of void in the cascades of your thoughts. Do not bother with a mantra, just go quiet while your body moves along rhythmically and the scenery passes by barely noticed. Practice attending to the void. As you find it, notice its texture and its context. Allow patterns to be illuminated that suggest how to capture more dark moments as you go along. See how your thoughts are punctuated by these moments especially when your thoughts are large, whole ideations without words or analysis. Let the continuity of the outside world be broken into parts while you look for pauses and seek the inner screen upon which the "world" is projected.

After a few such walking reveries you will quite naturally begin to seek the perception of the void in everyday life. Allow more silence and peacefulness into your world to encourage this exploration. The constant and pervasive background music of life's noise and the soundtrack of media and trivial conversation make this work far more difficult. Just looking for the void will relieve your restless emotions which you have been medicating with noise and busyness and melodrama. The effort alone will propel you into High Mental Body focus and alleviate the pressures of emotional energies.
We will leave you to this exercise for a while before we move into the next phase of exploration.

********************************************************************************

Welcome back from your long summer's sleep. Yes, the lengthy period of focus upon activity in the human world; all the immersion in the illusions of making a living, playing with your friends, building the furniture of your life is far less "reality" than your moments of sleep and inner darkness which seem to take place merely to provide your mind and body with rest and recuperation. The more complete your focus upon wakefulness, driven by action and conscious churning, the further you drift from the essential truth of being. Fortunately, the very nature of "I AM" supports oscillations from awake to asleep and so on. We merely remind you that the value of "asleep" is equal in its vastness to the value of "awake".

You have encountered an essential truth from the science of your world, that consciousness flickers on and off at an alarming rate (Four times per second is the present day consensus). Like the discoveries of Quantum Physics, this "truth" is neither new nor revolutionary. Instead it is a confirmation of the vision of the Universe that your consciousness is capable of embracing. That is why you encounter this "fact" long after our conversations have elucidated, clarified and made practical the very idea. We have suggested in several ways that seeking inner silence is a worthy goal and that the moments of awareness of silence (the entering and exiting from it and not the content) are cumulative, building one upon another to construct a meaningful experience of the hidden roots of your being. You have, until recently, believed these moments to be accessible only through heroic measures; hours of meditation, the propulsion of drugs, trauma or injury, even sleep deprivation and sweat lodge suffering not to mention just dumb luck.

We suggest that the overriding focus of your conscious life is the most powerful force that determines your ability to gain inner silence. With each cycle through your life as human, you move towards a greater share of your conscious attention illuminating the inner reality of SELF. The quiet times of winter infiltrate the hectic outer focus of the rest of the year as you age and practice, embracing the ultimate unimportance of your life in the world.

This is the cumulative effect of silence. You approach more closely, inch by inexorable inch, the source of Intent which is the lone content of the Void. We speak not of your intent as it pertains to your little life, but of the Intent of the Universe Itself. This unfathomable force, the very Word Itself, the very idea of All That Is, is the stuff of all existence and the content of the Void. In those four times per second that your consciousness blinks off, the intent of your little life which is the sum of your conscious reality encounters the Intent of All That Is. Guess which of these is larger and truer!

The more you release the stranglehold of your conscious beliefs, thoughts and fears and open to the vastness of infinite awareness, the more of each encounter with the Void you can embrace and know. It is not just your addiction to physical "reality" that stands in your way. More pernicious even than that is what lies beneath. Your relationship with consciousness is fraught with obstacles to experiencing the larger reality. The ideas of and about spirituality are reflections of basic views about what constitutes consciousness. Directly experiencing your SELF is blocked by thinking. There it is. Your mind has been equated with your consciousness throughout your life even before you began to question your own nature. Admittedly, not to the point that you have considered it a mere biological function limited by the capacity of your brain but your ability has been equated with your intelligence much to your own detriment.

What we are suggesting is the systematic release of your inner reliance upon your intelligence in both inner and outer exploration. Instead of trying to figure things out as you have habitually done throughout your life, try the wholesale embracing of the present moment. Try acting out of unconsidered instinct, referring to the still and silent voice of your largest summation of intent. Try trusting that all that you are and have ever been does not need your conscious control to keep your body and soul together. This summation climaxes four times per second and blends with the very purpose of the Universe, bursting into the reality of your SELF with no effort on your part. You do not control it, need to figure it out or understand it.

In recent meditations you have opened to the passage into and out of the Void more than ever before at the mere suggestion that these "shoulder" points of passage are key to your growth. The transition into the Void is all the more subtle and ethereal as your awareness collapses. Still, your lifetime of introspection has built your capacity to experience more of the summation of SELF that coalesces when entering the Void. This is the "Your life passing before your eyes" that is legend about the moments before death. It happens 4 times per second! This moment is the ultimate familiar moment. All that is you, to you, is in each of these points of motion. It happens in the flash into silence. If you practice conjuring that intensely intimate familiarity with your entire life experience, both inner and outer, you will approach the flow into the Void with more awareness. What has made such an impact upon you so far though is the shoulder point of exit. Partly because of the poignant contrast of the Void with your consciousness, the exit point is dramatic and surprising. At this juncture your entire universe explodes into being, a mini Big Bang. All of Infinity is accessible to you in these moments because it is Infinity Itself that powers each moment that you experience. 4 times per second! As we have described, Infinity is potential first, creation thereafter. The Potential is the stuff of the Void. It is boundless, All Powerful, All Seeing, All Knowing etc. Then it explodes into limitless expression through the vehicle of consciousness. Your efforts to be there when this takes place is appreciated throughout the infinite universe. It colors the existence of All That Is.

Yay for you!
