During the days since we offered you this chapter title you have squirmed merrily. The challenge of putting words to this primal layer of consciousness has both inspired and daunted you. How can such an ethereal awareness that has not even taken on thought or idea be described in coherent fashion? By metaphor of course! A description is not necessary to convey the roiling of awareness taking place around the singular urge of spiritual essence. The very primacy of it makes the discussion possible. It is in the contemplation that real growth will occur.

As you can only be aware of this portion of your psyche through its impingement upon more manifest parts of your SELF, turning your attention to it speaks volumes (which we will refrain from repeating) about your progress toward Oneness. Your experiences in life, all of which are inspired by the vast and subtle flow of spirit, have taken on form and density through the lenses of fear. The divine light (if you will), of your spirit shines through miasmas of inward motion, turning upon itself; a most accurate definition of the word fear. Greater and greater density of the miasmas is the result of the flow into manifestation. It is spirit which powers the process and it is the will of this primal source of SELF that always plays out in each experience.

Now, coming to know and understand this primal will that forms in the High Spiritual Body can be attained through the unification of your life experience into one grand inspiration which underlies everything you have ever known, said and done. We have worked on this together in your past while looking at Intent. By seeing past the surfaces of experience, we can deduce the primal urge that forms in the High Spiritual Body and bolsters its power to awareness thenceforth. You have watched, though, as your companions get side-tracked by the myriad things in Mind and Feelings and Body and conclude that smaller desires are what drive them. Urges like Love and Peace and Abundance etc. take the front seat and overwhelm perception for many who seek truth. These are worthy enough goals of course and much will be learned in their pursuit. That in itself is a clue to the fundamental desire of consciousness.

The land before thought, which is known only while it streams through coarser layers of awareness, thought, feeling and sensation, carries the gravity of "I AM" towards form. Here "I AM" first interacts with infinitely expanding motion. "I AM" is forced to turn inward with infinite speed as it careens through the void. Through shock "I AM" is augmented, its existence enlarged. The first glimmers of "I AM WHAT?" are added to in boundless waves of contraction and expansion. This is the land of awareness between "I AM" and "I AM NOT" where the primal urge for all existence is established, the real meaning of life. Here the die is cast which results in the creation of the infinite Universe with only one urge. Consciousness, once aware of Itself, seeks to experience Itself. "WHAT AM I? ", drives everything. Your entire Universe is a metaphoric representation of a great cosmic "Huh?"

Imagine if you will, looking at yourself from the outside. A bright but gentle light shines through your aura, the layers of your psyche, mental and emotional, surrounding your physical body and all bathed in a pure radiance. Throughout it all are sparkles of various color like sprinkles on a Sundae. Some glow brighter than others and all act as lenses affecting the source light as it shines through. Some of these sprinkles dim the source light enough to shadow dark spots and others dimming only a little. Still others add color and depth to the source light as it touches the sparkles that follow on the light's inexorable path. Each sprinkle represents a miasm of movement turning inward, a fear in action, a building block of creation. The fear may be experienced in too many ways to list in any body or organization of awareness so let us leave the details for another time. Let it be sufficient to say that you are riddled with them. So Many Sprinkles!

Reaching a maturity sufficient to turn you toward the source light itself, in other words the desire to know your SELF, you begin the processes which lead to the clearing of all these sprinkles. The clenching of physical miasmas, the wrenching of emotional miasmas and stenching of mental miasmas (because yes! Bad ideas do stink.) begins a releasing which accelerates as it goes on. Your awareness of higher layers of SELF takes place by the process of releasing gravity in lower levels of SELF. More source light shines through, feelings become more at peace, thoughts become lighter and more loving; even physical health burgeons more robustly. You become more focused upon and aware of source light as the darkness within you is released (Note: released, not erased).

Look now at the image of you from the outside as the darker sprinkles start to glow with more light getting through. Watch the color of light passing through become more pale and more constant. See first a few and then many more of these lenses dissolve so that the source light goes uninterrupted more and more. Watch for patterns as clarity grows. See how the resolution of the sprinkles in the Mental Body affects the emotions and how resolution and release of the sprinkles in the emotional body affects the physical. Every moment of acceptance and release clears layers beyond. Each moment of loving heals the clenching of the physical and allows your reason for existence to be expressed that much more clearly.

You are seeking the intimate knowledge of your spiritual SELF because you have released enough of these infinitesimal blockages of its light to allow you to see it glowing within you. When you align your desire to the primal desire of consciousness, SELF -awareness, you start to toss sprinkles off like a dog shaking water off of itself after a frolic in a puddle. Reaching inward to the High Spiritual Body opens you to the source of inspiration. The primal Intent of SELF-awareness pours from "I AM" ceaselessly. The urge to experience is hard wired into the Universe. Just as you pulse into and out of form with what you call Life and Death, the source of you endlessly pulses in expansion and contraction into the boundless variety of creation. As you begin to take on individuality in the lower layers of the High Mental Body, you have taken on the shaping of creation which you now experience. It is the power of Inspiration that provides the brick and mortar of it all. Letting go of the details and turning toward Inspiration Itself gives clarity to all of your life experiences, inner and outer. You can still throw a few sprinkles into the sundae for excitement.

Let you in on a little secret. We have used the word light as a metaphor. Light is a physical phenomena after all. Your aura is viewed with the senses of more ethereal bodies which we will describe in more detail as we go along. The realm of the Spiritual Body can only be described in metaphor and that can make things a little awkward. Sorry!

By the end of our program, you will have more direct experiences of this layer of awareness. As a result, you will perceive how the ethereal push into idea and icon develops. The practice of inner silence opens the door to such experience and reveals your unity with all of creation. From there, descriptions become unnecessary and meaningless. What is valuable is the recognition that all of creation has its roots here and from here all is connected in the Oneness.
