SECTION 2
Chapter 4
Stuck in the Middle with You

The Eternal Triangle

As you become ever more famliar with the consciousness at the foundation of creation and extend your identity into all the myriad things you once perceivd as outside of yourself, all of the aspects of life that you peer at take on new and different understanding. Issues that once seemed mysterious and unsolvable, such as Justice for example, become recognizable as the illusions that they are.

Having said that, we will offer a brief aside to explain such a bald assertion using just this example. From the perfection of infinite wholeness, there is no Justice! All is One, whole and complete. What creation moves toward is this very wholeness in each burst of creativity in action. This does not take place through chemistry or mass social wrenching of circumstances or through punishment or vengeance. Creation moves toward wholeness through expanded SELF-awareness. This is the awareness that sees the equal validity of victim and perpetrator, of poverty and wealth, of sickness and health and so on. It sees the perfection in the harshest of experiences and thus transcends the pain and fears. Justice is another human projection onto the landscape of spirit that easily spins back upon itself. An eye for an eye becomes an endless cycle that does not lead to redemption, resolution or forgiveness. Awareness grows by tiny increments on the cycling feud. Slap! Ow! Slap! Ow!

In human affairs, seeking resolution through forgiveness skips right to the end of such cycles of experience to view both ends of the continuum at hand. It is there that you will find the pain and fear that drive both extremes (victim and perpetrator). The expansiveness of the awareness of love can address both ends of the dichotomy much more effectively. The urge for Justice arises from the fear and pain and so does not elevate perspective. It perpetuates itself (hampster wheel) until the participants reach sufficient misery to change. Of course this also means that the religious ideal of Karma is also a human projection meant to make sense of a seemingly savage world. The Universe seeks only wholeness and so all of its creation moves that way as well. Forgive and move on. No punishment required.

Now, back to the point of it all. Life itself is cast into a continuum of awareness from the emergence from the field of infinite potential to the drive to return to its inexorable silence. Imagine a point on a revolving globe. When that point is beyond your sight, like the dark side of the moon, it is within that field of infinite potential. As the spinning continues and that point emerges fresh from the silence, it is filled with all of the possibilities of creation, expanding awareness extending outward in all directions and dimensions. At the other eclipse where the point verges upon disappearing, it is drawing all experience into itself; every iota of creation in all of its complex glory returning to the silence of the void of potential. Consciousness collapsing into the ultimate black hole.

So, between these two extremes, the infinitesimal point of SELF awareness explodes with the whole of creation. The two poles are the power that makes the entirety of the myriad things possible. The human search for spiritual awareness draws all attentions to one side of the experience of consciousness. However, the pull of the other side holds you fast to form and motion and time. The inexorable draw of the infinitesimal black hole at the center of your Earth pulls all spirit, thought and energy toward itself and the void. This is as pure an expression of cosmic love as the infinite expansion of spirit.

This drawing inward force condenses into form in the patterned ways we have been describing. The simplicity of this function is obscured by the numberless occurences and the speed of infinity. Your world appears to be very complex and mysterious as you watch the globe spins round and captures your attention. The processes, though, are straight forward and manageable when you experience them from inside.

The human experience is precariously placed near a balance point between the draw of manifestation and the pull of realization. Reflected in your experience of humanness is this wavering balance. You see both in yourself and in the human world around you the continuum of these two poles affecting thought, feeling and behaviors that fill your days on Earth. These poles are thoroughly connected. They are like lovers forever seeking contact and connection through the vast creation taking place between them. They are the two sides of one coin, neither exists without the other. Neither is good nor the other evil save that thinking makes it so. They are the Alpha and Omega and you are the fruit of their union.

We know that you perceive this connection through various lenses, one of which is the religious perspective of God versus Satan. This was an easy myth to conjure as the one draws you into the world with all of its fear and pain and greed, lust and envy while the other draws you toward uplifting experiences like forgiveness, generosity and peace. We perceive that wholeness supercedes these polarities. Embracing both your physical existence and your spiritual aspirations brings you into Oneness directly. Eventually!

You are engaged in a love relationship with spirit and with experience but most of all with the force of life that passes between the two poles. Denying one for the other excludes you from knowing either. They are the same consciousness in opposite focus. Both act constantly upon your awareness. The balance within you of these flows of force determines the wholeness of your perception. When you despair of escaping your physical reality, you deny the inherent perfection of that reality. The more you perceive the spiritual reality, the easier it will be to embrace the pull of gravity upon your identity. All this to say that being human is a good thing! Seeing that clearly brings you ever nearer to that balance point from which you, as human, experience All Is One.

The action of this perspective is much like that of being in love. The desire that drives you to embrace at all levels while the fear of being overwhelmed and maybe lost pulls at you, acts upon your attention requiring conscious effort and focus. You do not get to this awareness without learning to command your emotions at least somewhat. Success and failure will cycle many times as you open to give and receive this ultimate experience of love. Acceptance of SELF runs through acceptance of yourself as a conduit. You are both spirit and body. It is right to be both.

You can easily argue with the physical focus as if it is wrong to be in a body, as if it is a mistake to be "trapped" here. It takes vigilant efforts to transcend such fear. See that part of your nature as a lover who longs to be touched and embraced. Look beyond the blemishes and oddities of your world to see its wholeness. Use the forgiveness of the spiritual side to reveal how your world unfolds in perfection. Commit daily, indeed minute by minute, to the love for creation that you have every right to experience. Know the urges that are inspired by the manifest world, the greed and fear and pain, as the prods which keep you turning back toward the larger SELF for understanding, compassion and love.

When this flow of love for both spirit and matter becomes your daily life experience, perhaps even your steady conscious experience, you will be able to recognize the flow of thought and feeling that cycles between the poles. You may easily identify the perceptions of the human and animal spheres that inspire ideals and religious forms, seeing them for what they are. You will be able to separate the flow of High Mental Body ideation from the feedback loops of physical perceptions and the beliefs that circumscribe them.

Because these two poles are as close as consciousness can be to the realization of the void, they are closest to absolute unconditionality. They hold none of the predilections that are cast into creation in between them. They resonate only wholeness, the totality. That is what gives them the power to create the vast unending Universe. Neither pole could accomplish this creation on its own. Expansion and contraction are completely interdependent, unconditional principles. Standing between them as you do, you experience precisely what you choose with all of its complexity and conflicting fears and urges. Love and desire play together through you while you dance to the rythms of their pulsing.

When you are in love, you expand your identity to include the beloved. You become partner, member, citizen, nature, Earthling. Only love expands consciousness. All of your fretting over the ego, all of your judgement, all your effort to lose the grip of your body identification simply attaches you more firmly. Transcendence is always about inclusion and acceptance.

So, peer at your world through the eyes of love. Offer it compasssion that perceives the perfection in action. Offer it forgiveness for not living up to your judgements about what it "should" look like. Accept your world whole-heartedly as the sum total of evey desire that runs through your awareness. It is not up to you to change the world, heal it, fix it or improve it. None of those efforts will lead to success and especially not to happiness or true awareness. When you are in love you embrace all the quirks and flaws in full knowledge of your own. You release the fears and apprehensions about your own acceptability in your lover's eyes. You throw yourself wholly and courageously into the unknown future and hope for the best.
